reserved to use, by arrangement with the Navy, the area occupied by the range for manoeuvres, exercises, and Field Firing for which purposes all the land occupied by the system of ranges is at present reserved.

2. The Naval Authorities are prepared to permit the Rifle

Association the use of their Range, as hitherto, subject to Naval requirements, and it is suggested that the Police Range should be also open to the Association.

3. Alterations now being made on the Military Range, will it is hoped provide for the increased needs of the Garrison, if supplemented by a continuance of the permission to use occasionally the Police Range, subject to Police require-

ments, and also the Naval Ranges at Kowloon and Stone-

cutters, at times to be arranged with the Navy.

4. The Military Range to be similarly open to the Navy by

mutual arrangement, more especially as regards the use of

the 1,000 yaris firing point.

In Stonecutters' Island

In view of the anticipated early transfer of the

Island, or part of it, to the War Office, and also in

view of the Military requirements for defensive purposes

generally, it is not desirable to grant any lease of this

property to the Admiralty, but there is no Military objec-

tion to the Range being improved as proposed and extended

to a length of 900 yards on the following conditions:-

(a) The Range to be made safe in accordance with

the requirements of the Musketry Regulations, and to the

satisfaction of the Military Authorities.
